About this coloring page

A roadside ditch at the very start of spring: meltwater running, the first yellow coltsfoot pushing up through the bank, and a lapwing standing at the edge. In the Netherlands the return of the lapwing is treated as the official signal that winter is over, which makes this a nice seasonal marker to print in February or March. Large simple shapes throughout. Keep the water pale and the coltsfoot bright so the first flowers really pop.

Printing tips

Set your printer to “fit to page” and turn off headers and footers. Ordinary 80 gsm paper is fine for pencils; use 120 gsm or heavier if you colour with markers so the ink does not bleed through.
