Lions, elephants, giraffes, pandas and the rest of the animals children meet at the zoo or in a picture book long before they meet them anywhere else. These are drawn side-on or three-quarter, whole animal on the page, because a child who wants to colour a giraffe wants the whole giraffe and not an artful crop of its neck. Easy sheets keep to the silhouette and a few big shapes; detailed ones add real coat markings, which is where a set of pencils earns its keep.
