A Schule year in the Low Countries has a very particular rhythm, and this category follows it. Lantern walks in November, shoes by the chimney in early December, Carnival floats in the south while the rest of the country carries on as normal, Easter bonfires in Twente, the King`s Day flea market blanket that turns every pavement into a shop. Alongside those sit the celebrations that are equally part of a Dutch or Flemish classroom now: rangoli chalked on a doorstep at Diwali, a lion dance at Lunar New Year, the sweet table on the morning of Eid, marigolds and cut-paper banners for Day of the Dead. The intention is that a teacher can print a term`s worth of festivals from one place without the Sammlungen tilting toward any single tradition. Everything is drawn as an activity rather than a symbol — people baking, carving, hanging, queuing — because activity gives younger Kinder more to talk about while they color. Difficulty stays low to medium so a whole class can finish inside one session. Jahreszeitenal pages get printed hardest in the two weeks before the date, so print early; the shoe-by-the-chimney sheet is the busiest page on the entire site every November.
